Updates From Chris

First, I’d like to announce that Tang Bing Bing will be taking a new role as
Head of Operations for the company. In her new role, Bing will be working to coordinate our finance, HR, technology and production teams to improve transparency and productivity. Since helping to found Base, she been leading departments, supervised Mainland and Hollywood films, lead the vfx team as Head of Production, and has most recently refocused our pipeline efforts.

She’s been my partner in the business for 20 years, and understands my vision for the company: to be a AAA visual effects and animation studio with the ability to generate and produce our own IP. She will be taking the position immediately, reporting to me, and will be working with all the production and non-production managers to push forward our transformation. I hope we will all support her in the new role, and be patient as it will take time to address the many challenges and opportunities ahead.

A few updates on the company. We are still in the midst of the strike and its related challenges. We’ve been successful in landing new work – both visual effects and animation – but the business will take time to return to normal. Our plan remains to begin catching up on payroll in – delayed by the strike from our original June target – July and August, and return to normal as we step into the fall.

I apologize for the pain of these last twelve months, and assure you we’ve been working hard to find the best solutions for the business. And I am grateful for your trust and patience. I will be out for two weeks taking meetings in the US for our upcoming projects. I will be working every day to support the team and make sure our partners are on time with their commitments. Please reach out to any of the senior staff with urgent issues, and we will be sure to address them as quickly as possible.

A Big Thank You

From Marvel Studios

Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania

VFX Breakdown

Suit up, shrink down and dive deep into the Quantum Realm as we breakdown the visual effects work done for Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. VFX Supervisors Tang Bing Bing and Habib Zargarpour led our 180 artists across our Beijing and Kuala Lumpur studios, completing an estimated 84 shots for the release of MCU’s Phase 5 kickoff. It was yet another ant-mazing project to be a part of and working alongside the Marvel production teams.
